Health

Our health work.

We select a village to work with where we have some kind of contact.

There in a village meeting villagers suggest few names of village women ( according to our criteria) to work as health workers in their village. We select one of them to be trained . We form a bunch of  25 such selected women and train them as  Lady Health workers .

For their training we use materials based on photos and symbols because the women to be trained are illiterate.

We train them for preventive measures and primary treatment about the selected common diseases of  villages of the area. Generally we keep the number of diseases around ten . But it can be extended according to the need.

For their training we call them at our centre for 3 to 5 days . then they can begin to work in their village which is monitored regularly with the help of different kinds of monitoring charts. Monitoring process is designed in such a way that it continues the training process. The group meetings or village meetings also is used for the training of health workers. Some times we conduct training camps in villages also for smaller groups of health workers. A health worker generally covers about 50 families of a village.

A List Of Common Diseases is given below.

  • Diarrhea.
  • Dysentery
  • Scabies.
  • Night Blindness
  • T.B. 6. Mal Nutrition.
  • Cold & Cough.
  • High Fever
  • Malaria.
  • Urinary infection.
  • Abscess.
  • Eye sore
  • Child care.
  • Pre and post natal care.   Etc.

We conduct joint training camp of health workers as many timesas  required but at least 4 times every year. In the same way in every village where we work we conduct an awareness camp every month. In these camps we emphasize on personnel  hygiene, mother and child health, drinking water, balanced diet , eye care etc. We also give enough time to educate villagers against wrong and superstitious notions about different kinds of health measures and treatments. We also discuss about the work of the health workers which helps in improving the performance of a health worker.

In this way we are working for the benefit of –

  • 25 villages
  • 1250 families
  • 7500 persons

It means that our health work shall take care of health of about 7500 people for the duration of the project i.e. one year with the help of about 25  health workers.
